I love dog people

Since I last emailed you, [FORMATTED_FIRST_NAME GOES HERE], I’ve been trying really hard to find my community in my new town.

In case you missed it, I moved across PA this winter and I’m still settling in. Of course, my community means dog people šŸ˜€

Last week, I started volunteering at the local animal shelter, and honestly, it felt really good to be around people who get how much dogs matter.

I took Piglet out for a Shelter Skip Day. He’d been in the shelter since August 2025 and was SO excited to go out on a hike with me. I documented our field trip in this video 🦮 He’s the best boy!

And I’m so happy to share that less than a week after that outing, Piglet was adopted!

I don’t know if it had anything to do with my post. But I do know the whole experience made me feel a little less alone here.

What does community mean to you, [FORMATTED_FIRST_NAME GOES HERE]?

Lately, I’ve been realizing how important it is to have people around you who just ā€œget it.ā€ And honestly, that’s what this little corner of the internet has always felt like to me.

Like you and me and the other 4,500 people on this email list… we’re all trying to add enrichment to our dogs’ lives (and our own, too!).

So today I want to share a few places where you might find some dog enrichment friends to share the path with:

  1. Volunteer: When I walked Piglet last week, someone we met on the trail said they can’t wait to retire and volunteer with the dogs. But why wait? It was really easy to get involved, and you can volunteer for as much or as little as you want. Here’s a list of shelters that offer Doggy Day Out programs around the country.
  2. Join a dog enrichment community online: You might not have a ton of ā€œdog enrichment peopleā€ in your everyday life. That’s why online spaces can be so fun. My Dog Enrichment FB group is full of people sharing ideas, asking questions, celebrating little wins, and cheering each other on without judgment.
  3. Listen and join the conversation: One of my favorite things about podcasting is hearing from listeners who try an enrichment idea and then tell me how it went with their dog. If you’ve been listening to the Dog Enrichment with Tori Mistick Podcast on Spotify, you can leave comments right on the episodes now! It makes this whole thing feel a lot more like a real conversation and less like me talking into the void. 🫠

Let me know if you have any questions about anything or making friends in the dog space. I’m here for you.

xo

P.S. I'll be on TV tonight and tomorrow if you want to tune in. I'm hosting an hour on QVC2 Thursday from 6-7pm EST along with Liz McCraw who is a big animal rescue advocate (we're shopping for the latest Barefoot Dreams clothes). Then on Friday from 2-3pm on QVC2, I'm doing an hour of diamonds with my new friend Michele Lau who is also a dog lover! 🐾🐾

See... I find the dog people everywhere!
